deanna's been obsessing about the band THE WOODS. so we headed out to echo park to meet friends and see them play at ECHO CURIO a tiny performance place on sunset. i really love their song rain on and was excited to see them... we stopped by house of spirits to brown bag some beer and i got flashbacks to san francisco days... bummer is when we got there we found it it was more than sold out and the people poured out the door onto the sidewalk and into the street. so i didn't really get to see or hear them play but people watched the crowd of girls dressed like 80's secretaries and extras in reality bites- blousy floral dresses and headbands and military boots or strappy sandals- i didn't really like this style the first time around... it was so hot i dug through my bag hoping for a pair old scissors to cut my jeans into shorts... afterwards we went to LITTLE JOY for a nightcap- apparently it was speed metal night and conversation was nearly impossible over the music... so here i am still waiting to see the woods... patiently listening to rain on on the stereo...
