delilah and i decided to start making candles using repurposed glass from thrift stores... how many times do you go to the thrift store and see all this rad colored glass... and want to buy it and yet think "so do i really need another vase or tumbler"... we wanted to give that old glass new life, a new purpose so we headed out to thrift stores in the oc to pick out our glass containers then back home to melt, add fragrance and pour tons of candles for our new line... "the family van" of course exclusively sold at the road less traveled store. we used natural soy wax and essential oils to scent them- ahhh! eco-friendly. if you want to make candles yourself check out genwax for supplies and info (theyre in the la valley but will ship anywhere. we had an awesome time making the candles while listening to music and drinking margaritas with fresh limes (courtesy of our csa basket). if you're not familiar with csa it's community supported agriculture- basically you sign up and the match you with a local farm. for a small fee you get a basket of fresh organic seasonal fruits and veggies either weekly or biweekly. there's a pick-up a delilah store. for details visit csa or call the road less traveled store 714.836.8227.
