cakes and steaks... okay so maybe just cakes...

hard to believe it's been months since i wrote an entry but i'm going to make a real effort to write weekly... i felt inspired by last nights adventures... so i took my first cake decorating class with my mom at micheals in brea... i was a little weary at first picturing a bunch of bored stay at home moms desperate to get out of the house... but it was a good mix of people and we weren't the only mother/daughter pair.  our teacher dawn - professional cake decorator, day care operator, dog lover and mother of two led us through the lesson demonstrating with agility and a bit of humor how to fill our pastry bags and use our tips to create perfect stars and dots and then we took our new skills and decorated our first cake!  we all did the same design- the class follows the wilton cake decorating workbook- so the lessons are pretty specific.  it was great to spend time with my mom too... whose always so busy taking care of my grandmother, working and doing favors for people.  looking forward to the next class and using my new skills for my next batch of cupcakes!
